I'm looking to hire a web programmer to help me develop some .guide domains.

I don't have the budget to hire a US based developer, so I'm considering using upwork.com, freelancer.com, or similar websites.

Anyone have any experience hiring a developer on one of these sites? Was it a waste of money or did you end up getting something you were happy with?

I have been using Elance (now Upwork) for many years. Found some great talent cheap.

I usually make sure to go with people that have at least a few thousand in earnings.

Thanks, but I'm leaning towards Ruby on Rails or NodeJS versus dotNet

I had a company in India build a very complex verification system for the legal online gaming industry in Nevada and New Jersey which I actually got approved for by both gaming commissions a few years back. Short story, could not get the casino's on board, the end..

They also can build simple sites, or as complex as you want including your own back-end system.

Reach out to Daman Chadda and their site is: http://contentshoppe.in/

Be sure and talk to Daman, let him know that Mark from PlayerVerify sent you. It's been a few years but he will remember me, we spent almost two years building a site/system...

If you use them freelancing sites beware to check out their previous work and watch out for the bot spamming ones. Its a bit like a good restaurant, they do a very few dishes and they do them well. If they offer every service you can think of they are probably shit and/or will outsource work to the lowest bidder.
